Uinta Life’s “Why”

It’s been almost 6 years since I started this little project called Uinta Life, and I’m so grateful for everything that’s happened since then.

I wanted to take advantage of this milestone and express what Uinta Life means to me, as well as the four core messages that we’re trying to convey to YOU as we continue to offer guided tours, create clothing, and share fish stories.

1. Nature Is Sacred

WE BELIEVE that God is real and that nature is his creation. As such, it is a sacred space that can teach us, heal us, and show us who we are. Since it is a sacred space, we will do everything in our power to protect and sustain it. This is why, at least in part, we plant a tree with every purchase.

As the majority of the world loses its reverence for Deity and his creations, we will continue to teach the importance of respect for the outdoors, and respect for He who created them.

2. Fish Stories

Every angler knows this:

A fish is never just a fish.

It’s the memory. The moment. The chaos. The high-five. The one that got away.

Some of the best stories of my life were born in the middle of a chaotic fish story.

Imagine a world where everyone has no good stories to tell because they’ve been addicted to scrolling and their phones! At the time of writing this, the average screen time in the U.S is just over 7 hours. Ridiculous. We want to help people disconnect from their phones and reconnect with the outdoors to collect and preserve those stories. Whether you're on a guided tour or just wearing a hat that reminds you of the river, you’re part of that culture.

3. A Simple Life Is a Good Life

Whether it be our designs, our conversations, or our lives, we believe that a simple life is a good life. We strive to keep our designs simple and clean, allowing the brand to “get out of the way” of our deeper and more powerful purpose.

Is there a better way to achieve this than getting outside and realizing how simple life can be?!

4. Adventures With Family

I believe the family is central to society, and I believe parents have a responsibility to introduce their kids to nature, encourage them through challenges, teach them good qualities, and build memories that actually last. In the modern world, proximity does NOT equal closeness. Just because you’re physically close to your family doesn’t mean you’re close to them.

Get outside with your family! Go Adventure with them! Get caught in a snowstorm, stuck in mud, trip down a mountain, hook yourself past the barb, the possibilities are endless! These are the moments that will shape children’s lives, and therefore shape the future of society.

If any of this resonates with you — stick around.

We hope to continue to build this for as long as we can, and your support means the world to us.

Alex Goates
